Dan Connors confirms ToMI2 tryout

November 1st, 2010 by | 1 lonely comment

In a recent interview on GamesTM, Dan Connors, CEO of Telltale Games had this to say regarding Tales of Monkey Island:

“We loved it, it’s been successful on every channel it released on, as have the LucasArts remakes of the first two games. So the sheer love that people have for that franchise was immediately obvious and clear.

So we’d love to do more, we still have details that need to be worked out with LucasArts in order to get it done and none of those details have been addressed yet. They recently changed management over there and I think they’re working on their strategy for where they want to go in the future. As soon as that gets sorted out we’ll certainly bring it up with them again.

So there you have it! If everything goes well at LucasArts, Telltale will try to bring ToMI2 to the table. Let’s keep our fingers crossed! You can also read the entire interview here.

FINAL Monkey Island Tribute

May 22nd, 2010 by | 2 comments

Our special furry monkeys bring you the final Monkey Island tribute, made by some of the people you know and love. The message is simple, clear and true to any fan of the series, and if our song will be heard by the right people, we hopefully might just be wrong regarding the word “final” written in the title. Enjoy!

Weekly Wiki: Reginald Van Winslow

May 11th, 2010 by | No comments

This week, we will take a closer look at Reginald Van Winslow, who made his first appearance in ‘Tales of Monkey Island‘ and quickly became a fan favorite. Reginald Van Winslow is an extremely positive man with a passionate love for maps. He is also very loyal to Guybrush and remains so even after he has caught the Pox of LeChuck.

He was the captain of the Screaming Narwhal until Guybrush took the ship from him by knocking him in the water. He then insisted he became Guybrush’s first mate and sails him anywhere he wants to go, provided he points to it on a map.

Winslow is shown to be sexually active, a trait which disturbs Guybrush, and apparently has a relationship with the mer-person, Anemone (the logistics of which baffle Guybrush).

Read more about Reginald Van Winslow in the wiki including his backstory, what he did in Borneo, and trivia about his name. See ya next week for more Weekly Wiki!

Rodriguez quits LucasArts (and other news)

May 7th, 2010 by | 3 comments

It would seem that Darrell Rodriguez’ career at LucasArts is short-lived, seeing how he has announced his resignation, according to several online reports, like this one from Kotaku. Under Rodriguez’ tenure, LucasArts have returned to their roots a bit, with the release of special editions for the first two Monkey Island games, and outsourcing a whole new Monkey Island series to Telltale. We can only hope that this regime change will not bode ill for old-school adventure fans.
