Polly: Which bar would you prefer to spend a night at?

August 16th, 2010 by | 4 comments

Last week we asked you which Monkey Island game is your favorite when judging only by story, plot, humor, and puzzles. All week Monkey Island 2 was in the lead, but at the finish line it was beaten by The Curse of Monkey Island by two votes. CMI took 40% of the votes and Escape from Monkey Island made the bottom of the list with 2%. We have had some serious questions the past weeks, so this time we are going in a lighter direction as we ask which bar in any of he games you would prefer to spend a night at?

Polly: Which bar would you prefer to spend a night at?

  • The Bloody Lip (5%, 5 Votes)
  • Club 41 (16%, 16 Votes)
  • The Goodsoup Plantation Resort Hotel and Casino (40%, 39 Votes)
  • Micro-Groggery (1%, 1 Votes)
  • Pegnose's Booty Showcase (2%, 2 Votes)
  • Scumm Bar (34%, 33 Votes)
  • Lua Bar (1%, 1 Votes)

Something of the Thread: DeathSpank & movie art

August 15th, 2010 by | 2 comments

This time we’re deviating a bit, with two threads that aren’t about the Monkey Island games, but are connected to them in some way.

  • The first is a thread about Ron Gilbert’s DeathSpank. If you’ve played it, share your thoughts. Or you can just lament the lack of a PC version.
  • And then there is a request for help from haydenwce27. He’s wondering if anyone has saved Tony Stacchi’s concept art for the Monkey Island movie, since his site has gone down. If anyone does have this art, please step forward! This is an important part of Monkey Island history, and should not be lost to oblivion.

See you next time, and keep posting!

Weekly Wiki: The Dainty Lady

August 10th, 2010 by | No comments

What says butch pirate more than a pink ship? Exactly! That’s also what Guybrush thinks when he acquires The Dainty Lady in Escape from Monkey Island. Aside from the masculine color the vessel also comes equipped with a Lady Figurehead, who enjoys chatting when she is reunited with her pink earrings. It is revealed that on an earlier journey, The Dainty Lady collided with a ship carrying a shipment of voodoo ingredients. Some of these spilled overboard and brought the aforementioned figurehead to life. She is part of Guybrush’s adventures in his fourth outing and I can only assume that we all envy the lucky swashbuckler for owning the most gorgeous ship in the Caribbean.

Let’s hope Telltale sees this 🙂 This week we ask you which Monkey Island game is your favorite? That question has been asked a lot, but we’re going to ask you to disregard graphics (whether it’s 2D or 3D), forget voices, and forget music. Only look at story, plot, humor, and puzzles. Which Monkey Island game is your favorite based on those criterias?

Polly: Which MI game is your favorite?
