Horizons: Nightlight Productions

March 12th, 2011 by | No comments

Nightlight Productions has returned after a long hiatus. Old content is promised to be back online the next month or so and at least one new radio play will be released every month. In case you don’t know Nightlight makes radio plays based on games like Monkey Island and Grim Fandango. The stories are 0riginal, but takes place in the world of the game and possibly features some of the original characters. Check out plays like ‘The Power of Monkey Island‘, ‘Tierra de los Muertos‘, and ‘Lost Cause‘. You can also visit their Facebook page and a repopulated iTunes feed is promised soon. The plays are really well produced and very enjoyable to listen to. Check them out!

It really does belong in a museum!

Video games are getting the recognition they deserve, with an exhibition at the Smithsonian. Among the five playable games is… The Secret of Monkey Island. Yes, it’s that good. In addition, you can vote for other games you’d want to be included – among the possible choices is Grim Fandango, another masterpiece from the days when LucasArts were busier with the second half of their name than with the first.

Horizons: The Last Express

February 12th, 2011 by | 2 comments

The Last Express is a game you may have heard about, but haven’t got around to playing yet. Now that it’s only $ 5.99 on Good Old Games though, it might be a good time to get aboard. It came out in 1997, the same year Curse of Monkey Island was released, but it’s probably less well-known. Once you start playing it though, you’ll realize that this game isn’t bad – like Grim Fandango, it’s just a game that has unfortunately gone under some people’s radar. Because of the unique way in which it is played (it’s pretty much a real-time adventure), and the fantastic atmosphere of the game, I highly recommend it to any and all adventure game fans.
